Agricultural and livestock fencing
Agricultural fencing is a hinge-joint mesh, where the horizontal wires are joined to the verticals with knots. The knot lets the mesh give under pressure and then return to shape. That is why an animal leaning on the fence does not break it.
The vertical wires are on a 150 mm pitch, and the apertures are tighter at the bottom and more open towards the top. That holds the smaller animals in at the bottom and saves material higher up.
Rolls are 50 m long, in heights of 1.0-2.0 m, with 2.0 mm wire (horizontal) and 2.5 mm (edge and vertical wire), hot-dip galvanized.

Where it is used
Pasture
Fencing for cattle, sheep and horses.
Forestry fencing
Protecting young plantations from game.
Enclosing large areas
A 50 m roll cuts down the number of joins.
How to choose
Height
1.0-1.2 m suits sheep and cattle; 1.5-2.0 m is chosen for horses and for keeping game out.
Aperture spacing
The lower part is tighter, so that smaller animals cannot get through. Check that the tighter part goes at the bottom when installing.
Posts
Corner and end posts have to be reinforced and braced, because the whole tension bears on them.
Frequently asked questions
What is the advantage of hinge-joint fencing?
The knot lets the mesh give under pressure and return to shape. Ordinary welded mesh would deform permanently.
How long is a roll?
The standard roll is 50 m. That cuts down the number of joins, which are the weakest points in a fence.
