Fence panels – 2D and 3D

A panel fence is the most common fencing solution today: a rigid welded panel fixed to posts with clamps. Unlike roll mesh, a panel fence does not go slack over time and needs no re-tensioning.

The panels have either two wires close together between the horizontals (2D) or stiffening profiles running along the panel (3D), which keep the panel rigid even at a large height.

The panels are galvanized and powder-coated. The most common colours are RAL 7016 (anthracite grey), RAL 6005 (moss green), RAL 8017 (brown) and RAL 9005 (black). The same colour is available for posts, clamps and gates, so the whole set comes from one place.

Where it is used

Domestic fencing

Enclosing a plot, where the fence has to look right and stay maintenance-free for decades.

Industrial and storage sites

Taller panels (1730–2030 mm) for securing a site.

Public buildings

Schools, kindergartens and sports grounds, where the fence has to be safe and see-through.

How to choose

Height

1030–1230 mm separates an area visually, 1530–1730 mm is the usual domestic fence, and 1930–2030 mm is chosen when the fence also has to stop climbing.

Wire thickness

Thicker wire (4 mm, say) gives a stiffer panel. On a taller fence that matters, so the panel does not vibrate in the wind.

Posts and spacing

The post is chosen from the panel height. It has to be roughly 600–800 mm longer than the panel so it can go into the ground. The panel width (2500 mm) sets the post spacing.

Fixings and gates

Clamps, caps and post feet come in the same colour. Pedestrian and vehicle gates can be ordered at a height that matches the panel.

Frequently asked questions

How long a post should I choose?

The post has to be about 600–800 mm longer than the panel, so it can be set in concrete in the ground. For a 1530 mm panel, a 2300 mm post is the usual choice.

Are all the parts the same colour?

Yes. Panels, posts, clamps and gates are available in the same RAL shades: 7016 (grey), 6005 (green), 8017 (brown) and 9005 (black).

How much material do I need?

Divide the length of the fence by the panel width (2500 mm) to get the number of panels. There is one more post than panels. Send us the length and height of the fence and we will work the set out for you.
